Position Overview:

Digital Edge is looking for an experienced Datacenter Administrator who is skilled in performing complex problem-solving with minimal direction and collaborating with a variety of teams to support existing core infrastructure, integrate new systems with existing infrastructure, troubleshoot arising problems and perform scheduled support and maintenance procedures. This position requires who is able to manage infrastructure related projects end to end, be able to adapt to changes in technology, learn new tools and techniques. The candidate must have an experience supporting production environments, understand change control, sensitivity of information, security compliance.

DBA with solid experience in supporting complex production environments. Candidate will be responsible to configure, optimize, monitor, upgrade and otherwise support our clients' databases, and will be the primary escalation point for all Database Production issues, including off-hours time.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day activities on supporting multiple clients DB environment including:
    • backups and recovery
    • DB import/export
    • creating and monitoring jobs
    • create and implement database maintenance plan
    • migration of database objects from nonproduction to production
    • index maintenance
    • performance tuning
  • Collaborate with other technology specialists on Database design and implementations.
  • Participate in change management, confirm to change processes.
  • Create technical documentation as required for all system related changes and updates.
  • Ensure the overall health of infrastructure services and hardware. Understand Digital Edge Datacenter management platform, learn monitoring processes and methodology, alerts, thresholds and escalation procedures.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors on resolving DB related technical problems.
  • Understand security aspects and enforce company security policies and other compliance requirements.
  • Provide afterhours emergency production support when necessary

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Solid (3+ years) of experience as an on-call production Database Administrator
  • Expertise in database performance analysis, monitoring tools and tuning procedures
  • Strong Database Management skills, including backup and recovery procedures
  • Knowledge of fault detection and resolution processes
  • Solid hands-on experience in Oracle 10/11g (setup, maintenance, upgrades)
  • Experience in supporting High Availability production environment (RAC)
  • Expertise of Data Guard (physical and logical)
  • Ability to write tuned SQL, including PL/SQL stored procedures and packages
  • Ability to use AWR and ASH to perform diagnostics and tuning
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving various site performance issues and tuning
  • Understanding and basic administration of Unix and Windows platforms
  • Ability to provide 24x7 support (on rotation)
  • Strong communication skills

Considered a big plus:

  • Any Certification in IT field
  • MS SQL Server/mySQL setup and DB administration

This position requires who is able to manage infrastructure related projects end to end, be able to adapt to changes in technology, learn new tools and techniques. The candidate must have an experience supporting production environments, understand change control, sensitivity of information, security compliance.

We are also looking to consider DBAs with strong system administration and production support skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex problem-solving, determine and resolve systems issues ranging from network and security to operating system and platform configuration
  • Collaborate with other engineers and technology specialists on system design and implementations
  • Work with various data center teams to implement networking and other infrastructure related changes
  • Understand Digital Edge Datacenter management platform, learn monitoring processes and methodology, alerts, thresholds and escalation procedures.
  • Understand change control, participate in change management, confirm to change processes.
  • Determine necessary maintenance schedules required to maintain systems and ensure work is completed as specified
  • Ensure the overall health of infrastructure services and hardware
  • Develop and execute on maintenance plans across the environment, including deployment of security updates, security management, capacity/usage assessments, batch processing, and operating system and platform evolution planning
  • Understand security aspects, enforce company security policies and other compliance requirements

Required Skills:

  • Unix/Linux (any flavor)
  • Windows Servers
  • Scripting skills
  • Understanding of Windows/Unix security models
  • Understanding server hardware – HP, DELL , Sun etc.
  • Understanding storage: RAID, SAN, fiber, iSCSI, multi-pathing, volumes, storage policies etc (EMC, 3PAR, NetApp is a plus)
  • Understanding IDS/IPS, sniffing, penetration testing and other network and application level security
  • Understanding stress testing and related tools.

Additional Skill Assets: A plus

  • Any virtualization platform: VMWare, Hyper-V, Xen
  • Clustering: traditional or virtualization
  • Any database experience (Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostGre, MySQL)
  • Network gears, routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, load balancing
